Adv Medical Support Assistant (Travel Consult)

This position is located in the Travel/Consult office.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with securing needed specialty/tertiary care and providing numerous complex and diverse administrative tasks required to secure this care and all modes of patients transportation (e.
g.
, ambulance, car, taxi, air).
Responsible for processing all specialty care consultations.
Assists with travel arrangements.
This MSA is the primary liaison between the travel/consult office and the administrative offices outside of the organization.
Serves as point of contact for patients, medical center staff, other VA facilities and non-VA clinics/hospitals who contact the travel/consult office.
Serves as the first point of contact for customers and effectively triages calls and caller's needs for efficient assistance and problem resolutionCreates, maintains, and updates patient information databases and systems to tract and trend program outcomes.
Uses excel, vista, CPRS and word applicants systems to develop and compile programs' reportsSchedule patient's appointments at non-VA outpatient clinics and prepares necessary correspondence (authorization, patient and provider letter)Prepares purchase orders and travel vouchersResponds to a variety of correspondence (i.
e.
, non-VA Vendors, ambulance companies)Informs veterans and family regarding their appointment, what information is needed, special instructions, etc.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
