Job Summary
Coordinates and implements activities for the Chamber, working under board policy guidelines of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Coordinates and delegates the activities of committees and task forces and supervises the work of the staff in pursuit of the Chamber's mission and objectives. Represents the Board of Directors and its Officers in contact with the membership, with outside individuals, public agencies and officials, various organizations and groups, and with the general public - all requiring judgment and tact to foster good community/chamber relations. Reports to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The duties for President/Chief Executive Officer include, but are not limited to, those described below.

Essential Job Function
Confidentiality: Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
Communication: Communicates work requirements and skill training information to staff and communicates the mission and policies to department heads in a clear and understandable way. Works effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and educational levels.
Supervision: Oversees and directs staff per the Chamber's Strategic Plan and the bylaws and policies of the Board of Directors.
Training: Establishes and maintains a professional, trained and motivated staff. Directs cross-training activities to cover workload during labor shortfalls. Engages in ongoing professional training as needed to maintain current with best practices.
Membership: Meets requirements of membership sales and retentions goals and provides excellent customer service.
Equipment: Uses such office equipment as computer terminals, phone and voice mail systems and copiers. Uses software including, but not limited to, ChamberMaster; Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Physical: Must be able to sit and work comfortably at a desk station for extended time periods and stand for extended periods of time at events. Hearing and vision within normal ranges.
Other: Works hours necessary to fulfill obligations of the position. Meets attendance requirements.
Responsibilities
Become acquainted with as many member companies as possible for the purpose of maintaining good membership relations, stimulating communications within the business community, identifying common goals and issues to which the Chamber should address itself, and identifying people who may contribute time and resources to Chamber programs.
Maintain current statistics and familiarity of the economy of the Garden Grove area, both inside and outside the Chamber membership.
Cultivate good relationships with city, county, state and federal governments and their elected officials and staff.
Maintain a high level of communication among the Chamber officers, directors, staff, committees, and members, as well as between the Chamber and the general public.
Coordinate the activities of the Chamber committees, with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and provide necessary personal and staff assistance.
Oversee all staff activities of the Chamber, including the hiring and termination of employees.
Prepare, implement and provide oversight on the annual budget and coordinate expenditures consistent with the budget.
Report to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, on a monthly basis, the current status of the membership and dues income.
Inform the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of various problem areas and activities throughout the community that may affect the business sector.
Responsible for the development and implementation of an Annual Strategic Plan.
Work with the Chair of the Board of Directors to develop Board of Director and Executive Committee meetings and planning conference agendas.
Serve as Publisher of Chamber publications.
Along with the Chair of the Board of Directors serve as spokesperson for the Chamber.
Sign all contracts on behalf of the Chamber, as approved by the Board of Directors or Executive Committee.
Participate with Chairman and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors to prepare and implement the Strategic Plan.
Conduct staff meetings, committee meetings, and workshops.

Support members of the Board of Directors to achieve their goals as directors and to gain fulfillment in their accomplishments as Board members.
Experience
Experience working with community groups, business, and elected officials
Experience with a non-profit organization.
Skills
Supervisory skills - interview, hire, train, motivate, appraise and retain employees.
Leadership skills required to create and sustain good team cooperation and dynamics.
Able to initiate and track multiple projects and meet deadlines and financial objectives.
Able to read, interpret, summarize and present complex issues and data to others. Able to write clear instructions, procedures, memos and reports.
Education
Business or equivalent experience.
Other
Out-of-town travel to attend meetings and industry conferences.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
