Summary:

The Pharmacy Director is responsible for the technical operation and administrative supervision of the Pharmacy
Department.
Plans, develops and implements departmental programs and operations. Responsible for promoting a quality and
service excellence culture. Demonstrates thorough understanding and support of Hospital policies and procedures.
Promotes and maintains an environment which is in compliance with all laws, statutes, rules, regulations and
standards of any and all governmental authorities and applicable regulatory and accreditation bodies. Complies with
the requirements of the DEA, the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy and other accrediting and regulatory agencies
concerning the receipt, storage, distribution and use of pharmaceuticals. Responsible for the development and
provision of Pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients. Oversees the employee prescription program.
Maintains a departmental duty roster.
Actively participates in committee assignments and Administrative Staff meetings. Holds departmental meetings as
needed. Conducts employee performance appraisals. Annually reviews and revises, as needed, all Pharmacy job
descriptions. Maintains the Hospital Formulary and current sources of information. Assures the competence of
Pharmacy staff through active participation in the recruitment, interviewing, orientation and education of employees.
Assures the effective and efficient
operation
of the department through design, implementation, and maintenance of
systems and proper utilization of human resources. Creates and maintains an environment conducive to high
employee morale and group cohesiveness.
Demonstrate positive human relations skills, utilizing effective leadership. Maintains a sensitive, fair, and impartial
approach to dealing with employees. Delegates authority as necessary. Motivates employees through use of positive
reinforcement and recognition of employee problems with efforts to resolve these problems. Establishes and
monitors standards of performance among all subordinates, and ensures that standards are being consistently met.
Conducts regular employee performance evaluations. Improves subordinates' performance through ongoing
counseling, coaching, delegation and feedback practices. Assures the competence of staff through active participa-
tion in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of employees. Assumes responsibility for a comprehensive
orientation program that is documented for each new employee. Provides opportunities for training, continuing
development, and education of pharmacy employees. Keeps up to date on current personnel management skills and
techniques.
Establishes, reviews, and updates short- and long-term goals in order to be consistent with Hospital-wide plans.
Demonstrates innovation and creativity in the provision of services. Manages time effectively to ensure that
deadlines are met. Maintains documentation and statistics as necessary.
Responsible for the maintenance of a safe environment and for the observation of
safe
practices in area(s) of
responsibility. Conducts a quarterly safety inspection of the department and submits a completed safety checklist to
the Hospital Safety Officer. Reviews with departmental staff, all documented departmental incidents and the minutes
of all Hospital Safety Committee meetings. Actively participates in departmental/Hospital wide safety programs and
demonstrates an understanding of safety issues and practices in all aspects of work.
Develops, recommends and implements comprehensive, realistic annual operating and capital budgets that reflect
departmental needs based on changing external and internal environments. Establishes priorities, and directs
resource consumption according to predetermined plans and controls. Utilizes sound budgeting techniques.
Manages the Pharmacy Department in a cost-effective manner by utilizing current materials management techniques,
maximizing human resource, and continuously reevaluating the manner in which services are delivered. Responsible
for pursuing and achieving established service, quality, productivity and financial goals and benchmarks. Prepares
periodic reports of budget variances. Participates in product evaluation activities as necessary and promotes product
standardization whenever possible.
Contributes to staff and/or community education. Attends continuing education programs to maintain knowledge of
current pharmacy practices relative to the unique characteristics of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and
geriatric populations served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development relative to the
age categories of the patients served. Maintains a current level of management, professional and technical skills.
Assists with the departmental workload on a routine basis and at times of peak demand.
Annually reviews and revises departmental policies and procedures to ensure that current pharmacy services are
provided. Assures that supplies of pharmaceuticals and intravenous fluids are adequate to meet routine demands.
Establishes and maintains emergency supply resources and procedures.
Represents the Hospital within the community and on a state-wide and national basis, as appropriate, to promote a
continuity of care between the Hospital and other healthcare providers. Ensures a timely response to employee and
customer requests. Focuses on customer satisfaction through anticipation of customer needs and the development
and implementation of action designed to meet those needs. Acts in the best interest of the Hospital. Pursues
responsibilities in a focused, positive, and enthusiastic manner.
Participates in departmental/Hospital wide performance improvement activities. Maintains utmost confidentiality in
all aspects of duties.
Builds effective relationships within and outside the organization. Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively

This position does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.

Education, Experience and Requirements:
The Pharmacy Director must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. Must possess a
current New Hampshire pharmacy license. Five years experience in active institutional pharmacy work, including
supervisory experience is preferred. Training and/or experience specific to pharmaceutical dosages and practices
regarding pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients is required. Experience in computer systems and their
application to the clinical, clerical and operational aspects of hospital pharmacy is required. Good verbal and written
communication skills are required.

Physical Demands:
Lifting 30 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 15 pounds. This position requires the
ability to stand for prolonged periods. Working with a video display terminal is required. Walking, standing,
sitting, stooping, reaching, talking, seeing and hearing.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
