Summary:

The Teacher is responsible for delivering to each assigned student a comprehensive academic program that is standards-based, linked IEP goals and objectives, and tailored to the each individual's strengths, needs, grade level, and functioning level. Furthermore, the teacher is responsible for maintaining a structured, therapeutic, and positive educational environment in the context of school-wide policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1) Post-Secondary Degree
Bachelor's degree

2) Experience and/or Advanced Degree

Either of the following:

Both of the following:
2 years experience teaching children or youth with severe emotional/behavioral challenges, full-time in an academic setting; and
A Masters Degree in Education, Special Education, or Mental Health Field
or

3 years experience teaching children or youth with severe emotional/behavioral challenges, full-time in an academic setting

3) Teaching Authorization/ Credential

3) Both of the following:

California Special Education Teaching Credential (minimum of a 5 year, Preliminary Level I) an the authorized field required for teaching assignment (Examples include Mild/Moderate; Moderate/Severe; Learning Handicapped; Severely Handicapped)

Any additional authorization needed to teach secondary students in all assigned subject areas


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Specialized Skills
Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and therapeutic manner with adolescents who face serious emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges.
Ability to communicate verbally, and in writing, in a professional manner with other staff from diverse disciplines, as well as families, community members, and professional partners.


Physical Requirements
Ability to physically perform containment, escort, and restraint procedures with assaultive adolescents.
Ability to physically assist in lifting and carrying assaultive adolescents weighing up to 200 lbs.
Ability to visually and auditorally assess adolescent's behavior and needs.

Safety Precautions Required
Demonstrated use of any required crisis response techniques.
Demonstrated use of Universal Precautions.
Demonstrated safe driving record with DMV and attendance at vehicle orientation.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
