Job
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES

Personnel Management - Overall responsibility for personnel management and staffing including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, nurse practitioners/physician assistants and ancillary staff within the department.

Determine staffing levels based on patient care needs, patient flow, medical acuity, procedures, staff skills and other clinic needs
Interview, select and hire new employees
Confirm successful completion of corporate and site orientation of all new employees
Work with Human Resources to assure compliance with State, Federal and OSHA requirements for staff
Foster productive practices which reflect InterMed's Mission, Vision and Values for excellence in the delivery of patient care
Collaborate with the Medical Director to assure clinically excellent and patient centered staff
Regularly assess developmental opportunities for staff, coach staff to enhance performance, and support staff in learning and applying new skills and competencies
Organize daily activities of the team, daily flow and appropriate staff and resource utilization
Provide supervision of nurses and clinical assistants on the team
Coordinate and/or monitor staffing hours and payroll records
Coordinate and/or facilitate staff evaluations and performance, developing standards, and ensuring basic competencies for all staff
Leadership
Establish credibility and a strong presence in the department by being accessible, easy to approach and talk to, cool under pressure, and a calming influence during times of change
Establish expectations and model behaviors that demonstrate service excellence to staff and focuses on the patient as the primary customer
Provide supervision and leadership to assure a smooth and efficient workflow within the department
Responsible for day-to-day oversight of patient access, triage, treatment and follow-up
In coordination with the Medical Director, develop policies and procedures for department functions
Develop a system for objectively monitoring department performance and creatively seek solutions to foster quality improvement
Continuously optimize staff roles and responsibilities to meet performance goals
Develop and maintain an open and effective line of communication with providers and staff
Work collaboratively with management team, coordinators and providers to ensure effective working relationships
Support, embrace and lead change management
Operations
In concert with physicians and the Medical Director, review and modify provider schedules to optimize patient access
Coordinate and monitor space and room assignments for optimal patient flow
Develop a system to track provider utilization and personnel resources to optimize patient flow
Ensure patient care services are provided in a timely and effective manner Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of healthcare delivery in the department
Develop protocols to improve care for acute/urgent patient problems
Monitor and report on key performance indicators for the department
Monitor and track referral data
Maintain appropriate levels of medical supplies and other inventories pertinent to overall operations and patient care
Financial and Administrative Accountability
Assume management and administration of department operational and capital budgets
Monitor budget and report on variances. Analyze monthly reports and identify trends.
Monitor clinic utilization and provider productivity on a monthly basis, reporting trends to Medical Director
Evaluate, specify and recommend equipment for operations and patient care in the department
Act as a resource to providers and clinical staff and disseminate updates in a timely manner
Accountable for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of services within the patient centered medical home
Monitor Unlocked Encounter reports
Ensure charges are completed and submitted in a timely fashion
Strategic Planning and Program Coordination
Assess current state of department with relation to existing goals and plans
Collaborate with internal and external healthcare organizations on patient initiatives to ensure InterMed's positioning as a leader in healthcare improvement and quality
Assist with development of business plans for new programs and other strategic initiatives
Assist with marketing, public relations and advertising
Create department task plans with resource identification, role descriptions, and action plans to include timelines and a delivery schedule
Participate in management team meetings, interdepartmental problem solving, and policy development
Confidentiality
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines. Maintain confidentiality related to financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

Job
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine
Bachelor's degree, preferably in nursing or healthcare administration
Minimum of 5 years management experience, supervising 10
employees, preferably in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting
Previous supervisory experience in a clinical, multi-location setting strongly desired
3-5 years clinical experience, preferably in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department
Demonstrated formal leadership training experience
BLS certified; ACLS and PALS preferred
Proven record of success working in a collaborative manner with physicians and other senior management
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
