Barge Logistics Specialist

The CGBF Barge Logistics Specialist will coordinate and administer daily reporting tools for various barge logistics functions. The Barge Logistics Specialist will work with Procurement to coordinate cost effective logistics and ensures delivery of barge shipments to terminals. The position ensures correct invoicing, as per quoted rates and monitors each terminals capacity. Assists in achieving company's goals and targets while always following company standard operating procedures, policies and processes.
Primary Job Duties
Optimize the barge logistics function in the supply chain from origin berth to destination.
Position will work closely with Procurement and Sales for Vessel/barge logistics
Administer daily reporting tools including vessel schedules
Interface with all levels of management in a team oriented environment including Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Accounting and people in our third parties such as, Carriers, Ports and Customers
Negotiate, identify, and secure optimal freight rates by working closely with barge carriers
Maintains logs of all negotiated freight agreements and monitors on-going performance and disseminates this information to appropriate personnel
Communicates with vessel agents, interacts with Mandeville, Louisiana personnel to schedule barges for vessel loading
Arranges barge survey's where/when necessary
Follow through with all terminals on unload schedules, actual unloads, and barge unload information and update completed barge log
Calculate and reduce Demurrage
Verify and approve/deny the payment of demurrage invoices
Interact with appropriate terminal personnel on a daily basis to improve communications and business relationships
Monitors terminal capacity to inventory
Assist in the implementation of vessel agency and terminal performance tool
Conduct special studies as required by management and sales for most cost effective logistics and inventory planning decisions
Keeps excellent vendor relations
Be vigilant of issues and conditions that can affect their fellow workers
Create new tools and processes to improve the discipline, visibility, and reliability of the Fertilizer supply chain
Work with management to develop / integrate marine terminal operations metrics
Monitor and respond to all vessel incidents in the CGBF Quality Management System

Job Requirements
5 years of Barge Logistics Experience
Marine negotiating experience
Knowledge of vessel/barge supply chain
Excellent Word, Excel, and PowerPoint capabilities required
Able to utilize technology solutions to optimize supply chain situations
Ability to work independently and as a team
Strong problem solving skills
Vendor Management Skills

Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business related field
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Marine negotiation experience
Preferable experience in Agricultural business
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
