The Histotechnologist position will be located Anatomic Pathology and Histopathology section of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service, VA Connecticut Healthcare Systems, West Haven, CT.
Duties include but are not limited to the following;Perform a variety of procedures, including micro-sections of tissue, stain slides etc.
;Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring that the optimal conditions for cell preservation are maintained;Process all cytological specimens to include sputa, body secretions, fluids and/or fine needle aspirates;Perform all elements of gross examination and sectioning of all types of surgical pathology specimens;Receive and/or obtain specimens using appropriate techniques, maintaining proper identifications;Handle all types of human tissues which may include; receiving, checking, accepting, timing, logging, storing, and/or shipping;Stain tissue sections using special stains such as Acid Fast, Alcian Blue, Congo Red, Fontana-Masson, etc;Prepare frozen tissue sections for special histologic studies to include; selecting, freezing, cutting (microtomy) and staining tissue for Rush (Frozen Section) exam by the pathologis;Perform complex immunohistochemical stains and procedures such as special treatment procedures, antigen retrieval, enzymatic digestion, antibody diluting, etc;Teach and train other laboratory personnel to perform immunohistochemical and stains;Establish and monitor quality control systems and measures;Evaluate the validity of patient data in relation to the test procedure and expected results;Provide technical guidance to ensure all tissues are properly oriented when embedding them; andOther duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday - 8AM - 4:
30 PM .
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
