Physician (Psychiatrist)

These are full-time psychiatry positions (board eligible or board certified) for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System.
Best candidates have veteran-patient specific experience and with potential to qualify to affiliate as faculty with academic center for on-site resident and medical student education & training.
Duties are within the Psychiatry Consultation/Liaison Service (to the medical inpatient units, the emergency department, and the urgent care center); and the Psychiatry Inpatient Service.
Physician develops consultation/liaison relationships with clinicians throughout the hospital.
Responds to routine, acute, or emergency consultation requests from the admission area, inpatient medical/surgical units, ICU, extended care, on-site nursing home, and emergency department.
Serves as clinical lead for the consultation/liaison Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
Inpatient psychiatrist physician provides direct care for inpatients manifesting a wide variety of serious psychiatric and psychosocial problems.
Physician has expertise in treating individuals with acute mood and/or psychotic disorders, PTSD, TBI, and other severe mental illness, often with comorbid substance use disorders.
Works with interdisciplinary team members including other psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, addiction therapists, physician assistants, and clerks.
Provides initial assessment of patients admitted to the psychiatric unit, including diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, risk management, and discharge.
Documents clinical activity appropriately in the medical record.
Shares responsibility for patient management with interdisciplinary team.
Works closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive inpatient mental health care.
This physician provides call coverage on average one week in six and carries a pager during that week, but call and evening/weekend hours may be needed at times for professional patient care.
Call usually consists of telephone consultation but may require return to the hospital for evaluation of patients.
As time permits, may participate in research and education projects.
Depending on fluctuating staffing patterns and workloads, may be assigned to other programs within psychiatry.
Must be self-motivated to provide and lead proactive, recovery-oriented care for veterans, and desire to work in a team environment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
