Purchasing Agent
The incumbent serves as a member of the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS), providing comprehensive treatment of medical, surgical and long term care patients.
The primary function of this position will be administrative and procurement responsibilities for the EKHCS VAMC.
Some of the major duties are as follows:
Receives and analyzes prosthetic consults for items, services and durable medical equipment from primary care providers;Reviews requests for completeness, comparing disability or diagnosis to equipment and/or services normally provided for the condition for which they are requested and/or proper documentation has been provided to justify the issuance;Examines clinical health records and claims folders to determine legal eligibility and prosthetic clinical practice guidelines are followed and advises veteran and provider of the same;Prioritizes pending requests to comply with VA Central Office mandates;Uses Suspense properly.
Documents in Computerized Patients Record System (CPRS) professionally and appropriately.
Logs serial and lot numbers into National Prosthetic Patient Database (NPPD) in accordance with the Safe Medical Device Act;Uses office automation equipment such as a computer, facsimile machine, ADR equipment, bar code equipment, calculator, copiers and telephones efficiently and effectively.
Authorizes and prepares purchase orders for a wide variety of prosthetic and orthotic devices, medical supplies and durable medical equipment.
Work Schedule:
Full time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, Tour of duty will be set based on facility needPosition Description Title/PD#:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
