Physiatrist
Carl Vinson VAMC is seeking a Physiatrist for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service The Physiatrist is responsible for providing professional clinical services to veterans in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Section (PM&RS) including rehabilitation and pain management within the coordination of care to patients with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and reviewing screening and protocol evaluations for possible Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in Veterans.
This position is under the direct administrative supervision of the PM & RS Section Chief and the Geriatrics & Extended Care Service Line.
o Is expected to provide clinical services to patients in PM & RS clinics.
o Treats patients with painful and function-limiting musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, peripheral joints, and soft tissues such as sprains/strains, disc herniation's, rheumatologic conditions, degenerative, developmental, acquired, and traumatic neuromuscular conditions of the upper and lower limbs, spinal cord, and brain.
o Prescribes therapeutic exercise and other rehabilitation modalities.
o Performs and interprets electro diagnostic studies to include electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies, and evoked potentials.
o Interprets more diagnostic studies that evaluate a patient's musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems.
o Physiatrist should be competent to perform injection techniques.
o Work is comprised of providing clinical services consistent with accepted standards of ethical and professional in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
o Preference is applicants with two years post-doctoral experience in a service based-setting Work Schedule:

); light carrying (less than 15 lbs.
), use of fingers, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, and hearing DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
