Start Date: April, 2015
HOBSON USA is in immediate need of Financial Controller for our Client a commercial contractor in Prince Georges County, Maryland. This position will provide financial and accounting functions for our clients corporate office. The Controller is responsible for managing project cost accounting, payroll disbursement, A/P, A/R and monthly cash reconciliations and all other functions of a corporate controller.
Key Responsibilities
& manage and process all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and billings
& management of all facets of the accounting cycle financial statements, general ledger, bank reconciliation, journal entries, monthly adjusting entries and keeping an overall accurate audit trail
& preparation of monthly consolidated Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
& ensure account accuracy by reconciling transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies
& work with outside accountants on varying federal and state tax matters, as well as annual financial statement review
& track expenditures and receivables; analyze variances and indicate corrective action to management
& payroll and job costing
& ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained
& strong and proven collection skills are a must in order to keep payment on accounts timely
& perform other accounting functions as assigned
The skills required for this position will include (but not be limited to):
& experience in construction accounting is required, preferably in general contracting environment
& understanding of the overall project execution process, including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost and project profitability
& knowledge and complete understanding of job costing and related accounting software (specifically Timberline Sage)
& knowledge and complete understanding of AIA Requisition for Payments and retainage and generic invoices
& understanding of Release of Liens, Certificates of Insurance and Warranties
& intermediate use of Microsoft is required (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook)
& demonstrate good attention to detail and good judgment showing logical decision making
& excellent communication skills both verbal and written
& ability to deal well with owners, architects, subcontractors and suppliers
& strong organizational skills and ability to create and develop spreadsheets for reporting and tracking
& ability to work in a team environment with good interpersonal skills
Scheduled Hours: Full time
Qualifications/ Requirements:
A minimum of five years experience in accounting and a work history in commercial construction is required. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, college degree in accounting, finance or business administration is preferred. CPA license is also preferred. Longevity from previous employment is a must.
