AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER

This position serves as working Leaderman located in the Facilities Management Service, Engineering Section accomplishing work in the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Shop.
Incumbent receives and establishes work schedules and plans for accomplishing the mission of performing recurring and non-recurring projects, maintenance and repair of all air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment assigned.
Performs maintenance and limited repairs and calls for service when needed on intricate computer-controlled speed drives of various sizes and computer-controlled energy management systems, stand-a-lone control cabinets, data acquisition panels, associated sensors and hardware, and knowledge of programming with available software.
Assigns access levels on the Energy Management System for air conditioning shop personnel.
This shop is also responsible for providing air conditioning and refrigeration support to this health care system's four (4) outpatient clinics located to the east of this facility at Mobile, Alabama; Pensacola, Eglin, and Panama City, Florida Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Utility Operations Supervisor.
Incumbent refers to technical orders, blueprints, schematics, stock lists, and other technical publications.
During the absence of the Utility Operations Supervisor, the incumbent may be required to assume the duties of Shop Supervisor.
Also during absences of the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor, the incumbent may be required to assume these duties.
Incumbent receives work orders and assignments from the Utility Systems Operator Supervisor, and relates assignments to personnel under his/her leadership.
Ensures that all work is properly performed and subordinates meat work deadlines.
Makes work assignments and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
Discusses changes and obtains prior approval for procedures and sequence of work operators.
Incumbent acts as an on-site Facilities Management Engineering representative during major construction projects, making recommendations, reporting poor contractor workmanship, or reporting faulty material usage to the Supervisor.
The Leaderman ensures that work supplies, tools, plans, equipment, and any other materials necessary for the satisfactory completion of assignments are present.
Provides instructions, answers questions, and checks work progress during and upon completion.
Instructs and ensures that workers use shop, equipment appropriately and in a safe manner.
Adheres to safety requirements and uses good housekeeping practices at all limes at the work sites, in equipment and storage areas, and with regard to maintenance of equipment used.
Must be alert at all times to detect and correct any unsafe conditions at the various work sites.
The Leaderman meets with supervisory personnel to coordinate efforts of other shops involved in various repair operations.
Maintains an active file of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS's) and ensures that all personnel are fully familiar with the information provided.
Incumbent leads the work of journeymen air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and helpers.
Incumbent advises higher authority on problems in an effort to prevent and correct problems due to personnel and/or material shortage.
The incumbent is responsible for air conditioning refrigeration shop personnel following the policy of Section 608 of the Clean Air Act that pertains to the recovery and venting of all refrigerants purchased and used incumbent must have a Universal Coverage Technician Card, as required by 40 CFR, Part 82, Subpart F, approved by the EPA for purchasing refrigerants and equipment.
Incumbent will be required to act as subject matter expert in determining the eligibility and qualifications of applicants applying for positions of an equal or lesser grade.
Responds to emergency callbacks on weekends, holidays, and after regular duty hours to make repairs that are deemed critical for patient care or comfort.
The incumbent must adhere to fire, safety, and security requirements.
The employee is responsible for proactive behaviors in presenting, identifying, and reporting actual, and potential, unsafe patient care situations.
