Plant Manager


Principle Job Function:
The Plant Manager role is responsible for leading all operations at the plant level including providing a quality product to the customer. This position has P & L accountability and provides strategic leadership to the site management team in continuous improvement efforts, compliance, cost control, and operational efficiency. The principle responsibility of every employee is to aid in the production of superior quality products.
Scope:
The Plant Manager reports to VP of Operations or/and Executive Vice President and is directly responsible for all company assets, employees, and business results at the plant. This position leads the development and execution of the plant's action plan with the plant leadership team. Key performance indicators are quality, service, cost, compliance, and safety.
Principle Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
o P & L accountability at the plant level achieving plant and corporate goals.
o Plan, organize and direct the production and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
o Lead the plant management team in meeting corporate and plant goals and objectives.
o Initiate plans and processes which minimize production costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers' expectations.
o Implement strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports corporate strategic initiatives.
o Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem-solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact/data based problem solving.
o Initiate Lean 6 sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement programs at the plant level.
o Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
o Promote a culture of safety and address safety issues through implementation of corrective action.
o Ensure that Warehouse/Inventory department is staffed, meeting objectives, and supporting plant operations.
o Maintain sanitation and housekeeping standards at the plant.
o Support the quality department in its initiatives.
o Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports to corporate detailing plant performance.
o Ensure that the maintenance department is staffed and equipped to support plant operations.
o Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
o Implement training and development initiatives to improve individual performance and contributions.
o Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
o Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
o 4-7 years direction of plant operations.
o Significant manufacturing knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills.
o Proven experience with Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement methods.
o Demonstrated ability to understand and use financial reports as a management tool.
o PC-based computing experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Axcess). AS400 experience preferred.
o Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize/prioritize work, to meet deadlines and to prepare plans and budgets.
o Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment.
o Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.
o Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment essential.
o Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Work Environment

o May work in an office environment or in the warehouse around machinery. Some occasional exposure to shop elements such as noise, moving parts, dust, and fumes. The noise level is considered usually very moderate to loud.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
