Physical Therapist - 000000 The Physical Therapist is assigned to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Service outpatient clinic and/or inpatient units.
The incumbent's primary responsibility is to perform comprehensive evaluations directed at ascertaining the patient's functional status, rehabilitation needs, goals, and rehabilitation potential.
The process begins after a consultation is initiated by a provider (i.
e.
physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant).
The therapist establishes age-appropriate therapeutic agendas, which are based on the patient's identified deficits and expressed goals.
MAJOR DUTIES Plans and facilitates treatment programs for patients with complex impairments and providing therapeutic interventions to meet functional goals.
Maintains timely and appropriate documentation of all consults, initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, patient/family education, work load statistics, QA monitors, patient attendance records and other clinical activities.
Keeps up-to-date with current trends in rehabilitation medicine/therapy through scheduled in-services, library resources, continuing education courses and hospital training and development workshops scheduled by the facility.
Reviews patient medical records to assess appropriateness of physical therapy intervention, note any potential risks or contraindications to treatment and to assist in guiding the evaluation process.
Evaluates medical history, results and interpretation of appropriate functional tests and measurements such as:
range of motion, muscle strength, sensory/perceptual deficits, coordination, functional mobility, pain scales, and social needs.
Provides therapeutic interventions, which focus on posture, locomotion, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility and flexibility.
Demonstrates a full professional understanding of the theories or treatment of physical therapy and their proper application through the use of therapeutic physical rehabilitation and reconditioning procedures.
Responsible for maintaining open communication with and educating patients, families, Medical Center staff and others regarding the disability incurred, interventions used in reducing the disability, and management of any residual disability in the resumption of roles in the home and community environment.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
