The Chaplain's duties include:
Providing counsel and pastoral support to relatives, families, significant others, and visitors of patients in difficult and trying situations to alleviate their anxieties.
Helping Veterans and families deal with grief and bereavement and other emotional issuesResponding to emergencies and crises immediately when on callConducting spiritual assessments, with the patient's consent, to determine patients' religious background, desire for spiritual and pastoral care, spiritual resources and injuries.
Providing pastoral care in a timely manner including initial visits to newly admitted patients.
Responding to the request of staff professionals for spiritual care interventions and/or spiritual assessmentParticipating actively on interdisciplinary teams/groups, and committee to assure that the religious and spiritual needs of the patient are addressed and spiritual care is incorporated into the holistic care providedServing as a spiritual counselor to patients and their immediate families on ethical and moral matters, including problems of conscience and family and marital differences.
Providing regular and special worship services, sacraments, rites, ordinances as appropriate for patients of his/her faith; and location other chaplains or community clergy when necessary to assure that all patients have opportunities for free exercise of religion.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
