General Manager

Position Title: General Manager
Location: Plattsburgh, NY
Job Purpose:
Daily responsibility for the safe operation of quality, high performing, customer-oriented para-transit & fixed route transportation services. Oversees the preservation and maintenance of customer and First Transit assets such as facilities and fleet. Initiates, develops, and maintains a successful contract relationship with the customer. Reports consistently and meets frequently with First Transit corporate management and to the contract customer. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Manages labor relations, including collective bargaining and labor management. Adheres to budgets and schedules prescribed by the customer contract and by defined by First Transit.

Responsibilities:
Supervises all daily operations in the para-transit & fixed route operations, assuring quality transit services in accordance with contract scope specifications and ADA. Coordinates operations, overseeing safety and training, assignment supervisors and dispatchers, field supervisors, drivers, and clerical support. Manages daily operations record-keeping and operating activities.
Ensures compliance of all First Transit and Agency/customer procedures and policies
Directs all contractual services to include administrative functions, labor relations, human resources, training, risk management, information technology, parts purchasing, and inventory control, facility lease and maintenance, utilities, revenue and non-revenue fleet and equipment
Analyzes, prepares, and adheres to budgets and forecasts
Negotiates operating budgets and contractual terms with customers
Provides and promotes effective communications with customers
Directs and oversees dispatching, daily driver and fleet assignments, and road supervision; may also oversee call center, call taking, reservations, and scheduling
Oversees investigation of accidents and required retraining
Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Associates Degree or Bachelor's degree in Business or related field strongly preferred
Job Requirements:
5 years of transit management/leadership experience
Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent communication skills
Successful track record in managing budgets and/or P&L responsibility
Must be a self-starter able to obtain successful results without supervision
Thorough knowledge of service area
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with all personnel and Agency/Customer staff
Valid driver's licence, CDL helpful

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
