Description
The Sony Pictures Imageworks Production Finance department is responsible for providing financial support and analysis for Visual Effects and CG Animated productions. The Production Finance plays an integral part in all financial and accounting functions including but not limited to: production budgeting, forecasting/cash flows, profit analysis, headcount analysis, general accounting and ad-hoc analysis. The Production Finance team works directly with Senior Visual Effects Producers to assist in effective management of projects. In addition, the Production Finance team works cross-collaboratively with the information systems, corporate finance and production management departments.
Gain a deeper understanding of financial planning and reporting on complex projects. Interns will be exposed to:
- Budgeting and cost reporting functions
- Weekly/monthly variance reporting
- Resource quota planning and tracking
- Weekly cash flow forecasting
- General ledger reclassifications
- Corporate reconciliation reporting
- Procurement card management
- Petty cash management
- Labor tracking and time card management
- Historical record maintenance
- Ad-hoc production planning and reporting
Gain the following skills during this internship:
- Improved excel and access skills
- Improved financial presentation skills
- Deeper understanding of visual effects and animation pipeline
- Exposure to senior staff meetings
- Improved understanding of cost accounting and general ledger operations

Qualifications
In order to succeed, an intern will need to possess the following qualities:
- Highly organized
- Self-motivated/Self-starter
- Experience with formatting and managing large quantities of excel data
- Experience with basic excel functions and pivot tables
- Understanding of basic accounting principals
- Open to learning new concepts
- Have a background in finance/accounting
- Have a passion for film/entertainment industry
