Department Information: The Villages Public Safety Department, which was established in 1999, is located in a vibrant, growing Central Florida community that sits in three counties - Sumter, Lake and Marion. The department, which boasts state-of-the-art technology and equipment, is an internationally accredited fire department that challenges the norms and standards within the emergency services community. In our short 16-year history, we have quickly grown from one fire station with nine firefighters and one fire chief to seven fire stations with 81 operations personnel and 12 administrative staff.
If you are fortunate enough to join The Villages Public Safety Department, you will help protect the 100,000-plus residents who reside across 43 square miles in The Villages. That dynamic area includes close to 55,000 homes and 4 million square feet of commercial property.
If that's enough to entice you to join the best, then please consider these additional facts. We responded to 17,345 calls in 2014 - up 14 percent from the previous year. We are a paramedic-based service with non-transport responsibilities. We have excellent satisfaction ratings from the residents we serve. We offer a very aggressive CPR training schedule to a community that has 150 AED programs in place. And we are very proud our 40 percent cardiac save rate.
