Outside Contractor Sales Representative - MI
Our client, a major regional Building Material distributor selling directly to building and remodeling contractors, seeks an Outside Contractor Salesperson for their Northeast Michigan (Lower Peninsula) territory. For this role, all candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Gaylord, Michigan.
-Responsible for the growth of their assigned geographic sales territory Cultivate new relationships with prospective customers and strengthening relationships with existing accounts
-Compete daily to be the dominant force within your geographic trading area
-Always portray a professional image
-Understand and leverage our client's services and products to achieve sales plan
-Achieve product diversity plans
-Aggressively pursue new business Open at least 2 new accounts per month (minimum 24 new accounts annually)Conduct thorough research on prospects prior to sales calls
-Plan and execute 15-20 sales meetings per day. Interact with at least 10 decision makers daily
-Prepare for and attend sales meetings to discuss issues and situations within territory
-Estimate and quote materials (including material takeoffs)Collect and submit competitive information to Sales Management
-Assist branch personnel with customer service functions while at office (i.e.sales counter, sales calls)
Required Qualifications
-High School Diploma or GED
-Associates or Bachelor's Degree a plus
-Minimum 2-3 years of Building Material Sales or Practical Building Trades experience
-Must be an outgoing self-starter with good written and verbal skills
-Possess basic computer skills (Word, Email and Internet)
