Project Manager - Scientific

Project Manager - Pleasant Prairie, WI A local manufacturer of industrial paints and coatings is looking for a Project Manager to join their team.
As Project Manager you will work as part of a small, technical group, spending time working with other chemists, planning directions for research, assembling self-directed teams, and meeting with business managers.
In addition, you will also work on products from concept through completion, including formulation, raw material evaluation, testing, and product scale up.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute projects for consumer and industrial maintenance coatings.
Use sound data-based decision processes to draw conclusions from test results and provide input to the rest of the project team, on appropriate next steps on projects.
Use the appropriate balance of theoretical and practical knowledge to accelerate the development and commercialization of consumer and industrial maintenance coatings.
Develop new test methods as necessary to accelerate the development and commercialization of new products.
Demonstrate leadership in the industry by making presentations at trade shows.
Provide progress updates through the regular issuance of written and verbal reports.
Work seamlessly as a member of cross-functional project teams.
Maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions in a lab notebook.
Requirements &
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science/Engineering, or a comparable scientific technical field.
PhD preferred.
5-10 years hands on exterior coating formulation development and application experience in an industrial environment, preferably on wood.
Familiarity with water-based and solvent-based coating formulations, along with exterior coating testing and result evaluations.
Broad and deep understanding of the consumer and industrial maintenance coatings market, including the following:
Current suppliers, coatings customers, and end users Superior knowledge of industry test methods and their significance Understanding of competitive capabilities Familiarity with formulated product lab scale up to commercial production.
Proven ability to use fundamental polymer properties to predict end-use performance.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills and leadership to facilitate commercialization of lab formulations.
Additional Consideration Given to Those With:
Demonstrated 2-5 years small technical team leading and training experience.
Knowledge of aerosol technology.
