Manufacturing Engineer

Our client is a privately held, mid-size manufacturer supplying the automotive market with medium to high volume, stamped metal components and welded assemblies. In business since 1968, they have multiple locations throughout North America. We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with a positive attitude at our plant in Portland, TN (just north of Nashville). Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will ensure safe and efficient practices are followed thought the use of well-defined processes for all aspects of the manufacturing process that will continually change based on best practices and lean manufacturing activities.
Typical Duties
Ensure all manufacturing processes are operating within the OSHA standards to ensure the safety and protection of all associates.
Regular review of processes and implementation of improvement activities.
Assist in new or takeover business to help create a robust manufacturing process.
Assist Materials Team with process verification, packaging and material specifications.
Assist in facility upgrades to ensure manufacturing needs are met while upgrades are planned.
Participate in Problem solving and 8-D activities to ensure quality product to our customers.
Regular review of downtime and plan for improvement.
Ensure the manufacturing processes are constantly evolving with technological advancements.
Assist the Maintenance Department to upgrade capital equipment as necessary
Assist in training of plant personnel as required for process improvement.
Maintain company records in compliance with the Manufacturing Department and TS-16949.
Must be able to travel to other plants in U.S., Canada and Mexico. Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent o Associates degree in related field preferred
Lean Manufacturing training preferred
10 years' experience in manufacturing
5 years' experience in Automotive manufacturing
5 years' experience in press/ stamping
Process design, improvement and or verification experience
Strong understanding of steel stampings and welding processes
Strong understanding for elimination of waste
Solid computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Projects)
Proficiency in design and engineering software
Understanding of APQP requirements
Solid Project Management skills
Working knowledge of P.M. systems
