HEALTH TECHNICIAN

The Health Technician position is located in the Podiatry Section, Surgical Service, at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, located in Temple, Texas.
Duties include but may not be limited to the following:
Retrieves historical and diagnostic data from the computer or medical records and has them available for the podiatrist when the patient is in the clinic.
Prepares the patient for examination, records appropriate clinical data, provides patient education, and assists with redressing patient as needed.
Assists in the movement of patients from a wheelchair, bed, gurney, or other method of conveyance to the treatment chair or table.
Provides technical assistance in restoration and/or maintenance of the patient's musculoskeletal and neurovascular function.
Utilizes experience and skill in in the use of instruments and equipment used in podiatric surgery, to assist the podiatrist during surgery.
Maintains instruments and equipment used in podiatric clinics.
Assists surgeon in outpatient clinic as needed and performs duties such scrubbing and prepping patients, keeping the surgical field free of blood for proper visualization, cutting sutures, holding retractors, setting up specialized equipment, placing patients in proper positions for outpatient surgical procedures to be performed and performing immediate postoperative care.
Handles possible patient reactions secondary to medications appropriately.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:
00am - 4:
30pm.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
