This announcement is for an Administrative Support Assistant/OA position in Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service, Temple, Texas.
The incumbent provides the primary administrative assistance to the Chief and others in the service, performing administrative, budgetary and clerical duties to support the staff.
DUTIES INLCLUDE BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Answers inquiries from veterans and staff relating to the Auto Adaptive Equipment, clothing allowance, home improvement/structural alterations and special adaptive housing programs and appeals process.
Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of staff, agency and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the organization's program operation.
Participates in managing the budget for Prosthetic Treatment Center by garnering data for reports, reviewing monthly budgets for the home oxygen program to ensure 1358s are processed by the purchasing agents and approved by Fiscal.
Prepares spreadsheet for chief's report to the administration.
Assists with developing policies and procedures to insure Prosthetic Treatment Center is in compliance with Clinical Practice Recommendations and mandates.
Assists Prosthetic Representatives by researching, gathering data and preparing statements of the case responses in VA Appeals.
Prepares, executes, and/or tracks program specific information, such as congressional inquiries, and contracts within the organization unit.
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries.
Provides general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments, for consolidating/coordinating submittals of information.
Researches files and assembles background information on the subject of incoming material prior to referral.
Provides general calendar maintenance clerical services such as maintaining calendars and recording appointments, or arranging for meeting and small conference administrative details.
Maintains the appointment calendar, schedules appointments, reminds supervisor/staff members of the subject matter prior to the meeting, and makes administrative arrangements as required.
Justifies and requests replacements for outdated equipment by identifying the outdated equipment, gathering relevant information on office equipment, or requesting office equipment for own work area.
Acts as Prosthetic liaison with IT to test new prosthetic software before installing at station level for new prosthetic software.
Performs office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail, desk-top publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, database, and/or graphics.
Assists other users with regard to selection of applications, training on a variety of standard application packages, and selection of appropriate formats and procedures for each task.
Integrates several types of software to generate specific working documents and forms such as spread sheet, database, word processing, desk-top publishing, graphics, and other similar products.
Provides administrative support for the Amputee Clinic Team and the Major Medical Equipment Team, maintaining the clinic schedules, notifying all patients, arranging for travel when necessary, and providing the clerical support for the clinic visit.
Maintains the Service personnel records to include the timecards, training records, and other documentation of employee information.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
