Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist (Enrollment Coordinator)

The Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist for the Department of Veteran's Affair Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS), serve as the Enrollment Coordinator for the Health Care System.
The primary responsibility of the Specialist encompasses three key functions:
facilitating all administrative aspects of the enrollment process; health benefits eligibility determinations, and related aspects of health benefits administration.
The Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist is responsible for the Enrollment Program to include all administrative processes, health benefits eligibility determinations and all aspects of the health benefits.
The Specialist will perform all technical activities involved with screening, processing and assisting veterans, non-veterans and beneficiaries seeking multiple medical treatment benefits.
This position is referred to as the subject matter expert on all enrollment administrative issues for clerks, medical staff, first- line, middle and senior facility management officials of the VATVCBHCS.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
o Coordinate and implement all enrollment software changes to the Veterans Health Information Systems Technology Architecture (VistA) with the local Information Resource Management Staff and the Business Office Program Integrator (BOPI).
o Develop program materials, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Station Policy, and relay content to clerical staff assigned throughout the VATVCBHCS.
o Provide eligibility status on VA sharing agreements with DOD medical facilities and contract service with local private inpatient hospital utilized throughout the health care system.
o Demonstrate sound knowledge of Department of Veteran's Affairs policies, guidelines and federal regulations, associated in patient/outpatient activities, as well as veteran/patient entitlement and benefits programs.
o Demonstrate strong knowledge in VA benefit eligibility determination for the Uniform Benefits Package, VA National Enrollment and non-veteran and/or sharing agreement benefits.
o Serve as a representative for Decedent Affairs.
o Serve as a representative for deceased veterans'family applying for veterans' death benefits.
o Responsible for orientation of the veteran's beneficiaries for benefits available; answers questions, provides information and gives guidance.
o Independently makes determination of eligibility for burial benefits, by review of documents or information available.
o Responsible for researching and verifying all death notices from Health Eligibility Center (HEC), prior to entering the date of death in computer files.
o Responsible for the programmatic over site of the VATVCBHCS Enrollment Program.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:
00 am to 4:
30 pm, nights and weekends tours of duty might be required for patient care support.

Position may require occassional travel to all Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care Facilities for training as required by Veterans Health Administration.
Note:
Expert knowledge of VHA enrollment process, health benefits eligibility determinations, related aspects of health benefits administration and national registries, is highly preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
