Established in 1977, Shakespeare Veterinary Hospital is a 2-doctor, progressive, well-equipped, primarily small animal practice, with a small percentage of exotic, avian, and reptile patients, located in Stratford Connecticut, in coastal Fairfield County. We provide passionate pet care through wellness, diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental services.
Our hospital is equipped with the latest in diagnostic and patient-monitoring technology, including in-house laboratory (chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis), microscopy with imaging capability, Tonopen, digital EKG, high-definition oscillometric blood pressure, SPO2, PVI, positive pressure ventilation, digital radiography (including dental), ultrasound, and video-guided endoscopy. Additionally, we are in close proximity to after-hours emergency hospitals and referral centers.
We seek a full-time veterinary technician with a minimum of two (2) years experience.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, is focused, responsible, work-oriented, self-motivated, punctual, professional, team-oriented, interested in broadening their skill and knowledge base through continuing education, and appreciates the bond between human beings and their pets.
All applicants should possess adequate computer skills and be well-versed in veterinary practice management software workflows. Applicants should also be capable of performing typical duties of a veterinary technician including, but not limited to, animal handling and restraint; assisting doctors in appointments, surgery, and throughout various stages of patient cases; IV catheter placement, venipuncture, diagnostic testing, obtaining radiographs; patient and anesthetic monitoring; patient care, and client education. Additionally, the ideal candidate is willing to look outside their job description and support fellow staff when the need arises.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), and continuing education reimbursement.
