Electrical Engineering Manager

Gemma Power Systems is looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to support their home office Engineering group in Glastonbury, CT.
Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineering Manager will provide leadership and mentoring of staff electrical engineers supporting proposal and project execution phases of power plant projects.
The responsibility of the Electrical Engineering Manager is to ensure that the facility meets the technical and performance requirements of the proposal or contract documents. The Electrical Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering on a functional basis and the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) on a project basis. The Electrical Engineering Manager manages the development of engineering/design documents for proposals, utilizing in house engineering staff and the subcontracted Engineer of Record, as required. The Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for the project technical requirements from the proposal stage through the engineering design and performance testing of the plant.
Additional Responsibilites:
Support project capture activities for new projects by developing performance and technical solutions, proposal documents.
Ensure project engineering activities comply with both company and contract requirements, including all code regulations and permits.
Provide value engineering direction to the Engineer of Record during the design process, including reviewing engineered specifications and drawings.
The Electrical Engineering Manager will support the Procurement process by managing the review of specifications and supporting documents for bid, evaluation of vendor proposals, development of the technical bid tab, overseeing technical bid clarification process with vendors, and ensuring final conformance of specifications to be included in Purchase Orders
Act as the technical interface with the Owner with regard to Utility interconnect issues
Manage responses to technical comments by the customer or owner's engineer on project electrical design issues:
Know the scope of work in the contract.
Review interpretation of all external codes, regulations and permits, by the Engineer of Record, and ensure that Codes are applied appropriately to the project
Provide overall planning and management of electrical engineering functions for the project
Manage responses to project technical inquires
Coordinate and expedite all in-house electrical engineering reviews.
Populate Lessons Learned database with issues from current project
Review and apply lessons learned from previous projects.

Essential
Qualifications:
BS-Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineering License or able to obtain within 2 years (preferred)
10

Experience:
Familiarity with design of High Voltage power systems
Experienced in Design of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage power systems
Experienced in technical requirements for the following equipment:
MCCs, Switchgear, Power Transformers, Protection Systems, Cable/Bus systems
Familiarity with application of IEEE, ANSI, UL, NETA, NFPA standards in the design of power plants and process facilities
Familiarity with construction means and methods as they relate to power plants and process facilities
Familiarity with control system and communications design including distributed control systems
US Citizen or Green Card.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills required. Must be capable of interacting with engineers, suppliers, and shop/construction personnel.
Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform all job functions
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word with working knowledge of ETAPEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
