General Warehouse Worker
Job Description: General Purpose of Job:
Manually move freight, stock, or other materials or perform other general labor. Includes all manual laborers not elsewhere classified.
Job Tasks:
o Attach identifying tags to containers, or mark them with identifying information.
o Read work orders or receive verbal instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
o Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
o Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers, by hand and other equipment.
o Load and unload cargo.
o Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
o Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
o Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks, and return them after use.
o Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
o Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
o Adjust or replace equipment parts such as rollers, belts, plugs, and caps, using hand tools.
o Stack cargo in locations such as using pallets or cargo boards.
o Connect electrical equipment to power sources so that it can be tested before use.
o Bundle and band material using banding machines.
o Check out, or requisition all equipment needed for production.
o Sweep out cargo containers and storage areas.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
