Laboratory Technician
Laboratory Technician Contract 6-12 mo, Barrington, IL
Job Description:
As a member of the team, you will provide support to testing and R&D team tasked with developing food and beverage products.
The chosen applicant will execute general support activities in a testing laboratory, including ordering of chemicals and supplies, sample receipt, small equipment maintenance and various administrative support duties.
Principal Accountabilities:
o Conduct tests per study plan and instruction, GMP o Clean and maintain lab instruments and storeroom facilities o Blending and formulation o Document and conduct routine laboratory tests on food and beverage products o Assist food scientists with other delegated tasks o Collect test data o Comply with strict safety rules and regulations o Maintain ingredient inventory for prototype development work (pulling ingredients from production, maintaining a library of frozen ingredients, dry powders and liquid ingredients) o Calibrate analytical instruments on a daily schedule o Coordinate all incoming & outgoing shipments (ingredients, product, test samples, etc) as well as maintain inventory of shipping materials.
o This includes carrying boxes up and down stairs.
o Perform routine analytical testing of samples (brix, acid, pH, viscosity, etc)Required Qualificationso 0-3 years of working experience in food oil research and development o BS in chemistry, food science or related field o Record of Successfully completed 2 years of college chemistry (organic and food chemistry) o Able to conduct food chemistry analysis and other routine tasks independently o Collect test data and prepare reports detailing results o Document and maintain laboratory records and study documentation o Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) o Ability to lift 35-50 lb routinely o Ability to stand and conduct test for eight hours on daily basis o Candidate must pass background, drug screen, physical Why Kelly ?At Kelly Services , we work with the best.
