Job Details:

The HIM Director manages the Health Information Management function and ensures high quality, cost effective, customer-focused service. Duties include management of staff and acting as a liaison with client departments, and the corporate office.
This opportunity is located in Great Falls, Montana at a leading Acute Care Hospital.This opportunity offers 10K Sign-On Bonus
Responsibilities:
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the HIM department and reports issues to appropriate staff as necessary. Ensures all job responsibilities are covered in absence of other staff.
Authorizes and coordinates payroll.
Participates on all assigned committees deemed appropriate by organization and client.
Monitors quality and productivity of staff including audits on staff.
Manages staff that includes counseling, conducting performance appraisals, interviewing, etc.
Assists with vendor selection for HIM department.
Prepares annual budget.
Coordinates special projects for HIM.
Provides instruction to staff and student as necessary.
Provides weekly reports to client.
Maintains personal and professional education and growth.
Develops strategic/tactical plans for the HIM Department.
Prepares weekly operational reports.
Writes and updates policies and procedures as needed.
Ensures compliance with state and JCHAO regulations.
Provides consultative services to the outpatient service areas.
Assesses staff educational needs and plans appropriate methods to meet development needs.
Provides affiliation student education and opportunities for HIM technology programs.
Keeps abreast of new legislation and regulations that affect HIM.
Maintains strict physician and patient confidentiality and follows state, federal and hospital guidelines for the release of information.
Supports Precyse's Compliance Program by demonstrating adherence to all relevant compliance policies and procedures as evidenced by in-service attendance and daily practice; notifying management when there is a compliance concern or incident; demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations as evidenced by appropriate handling of patient information; promoting confidentiality and using discretion when handling patient information.
Job Requirements:
Requirements
RHIA or RHIT and Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management or related field
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Director of Health Information Management
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Requires strong interpersonal skills to work with physicians and staff to implement positive/effective change
Demonstrated customer-oriented management style
Demonstrates knowledge of computer technology and automated system designs for HIM. Computer knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
