Pipefitters are responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fitting utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blue prints.Basic Qualifications
To be eligible you must pass a pre test which requires in depth knowledge of pipe fitting you need to get the pipe fitting blue book and know it backwards and forwards- Requires a minimum of 4 or more years of verifiable marine or industrial pipefitting experience. - Ability to layout, fabricate, fit, and install pipe. - Must be able to read marine blue prints and work from standard and metric specifications. - Testing will consist of a written comprehension exam & hands-on testing to include:
from a pipe detail drawing,an applicant must be able to fit up a pipe assembly. - Must also be able to figuring a rolling ,90, and 45 degree off-set. - Able to fit flanges and valves.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
