Senior Merchandise Handler

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESIn the absence of or under the direction of the Team Leader, lead the daily activities of team members to attain/exceed turnaround, productivity, safety, and quality standards.
Shipping Department - Load both conveyable and non-conveyable merchandise or supplies on to trailers in accordance with distribution center procedures.
Assist the Team Leader and Area Manager with scheduling, training, and supervision of distribution center teammates to ensure efficient operation within the distribution center.
Plan, revise, and delegate work for subordinates.
Observe and evaluate teammate performance.
Communicate effectively with distribution center leadership, laterally, and with subordinates Conduct training programs to ensure teammate efficiency and high performance REQUIRED-Must be at least 18 years of age and read and write at the high school level along with basic math & computer skills-Supervisory/leadership skills -Organizational/workload/prioritization-Detail-oriented & Analytical/decision making-Work with minimal supervision -Comprehend verbal and written communication -See things at a distance (depth) as well as in close proximity (reading distance) -Work in a non-climate controlled and distribution center environment -Move around the floor for extended periods -Grip and hold items and bend, twist, squat, and reach (including above head) on a repetitive basis -Lift up to 30 pounds on a repetitive basis & up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis -Push/pull up to 60 pounds on a repetitive basis -Safely operate office and power equipment such as personal computer, fax, phone, copier, forklift, pallet jack, and/or high reach -Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required -Follow all operational and safety requirements to include physical and mechanical This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work for teammates assigned to this job.
