Registered Nurse (Surgical Coordinator)

Statement of Major Duties:
o Plans & organizes veteran care within the ophthalmology clinic including scheduling clinical lasers & procedures, clinic appointments, consults and surgeries.
o Develops SOPs for scheduling surgery at the facility location of Lake City.
o Coordinates clinic profiles to facilitate Veteran care & output.
o Schedules all appointments associated with surgery.
o Oversees staff orientation of clinic SOPs, policies, o Orders disposable items for clinic, tissue and specialty lenses/items for surgery.
o Monitors outdates on disposables.
o Optimizes client satisfaction and outcomes by collaborating with team surgeons from Lake City, Gainesville & Jacksonville, nurse coordinators in Gainesville and OR staff.
o Reviews surgery request consults to ensure veteran is a candidate for elective surgery in Lake City (AICD, Cardiac stents, etc) o Confers with social services and surgeons of veterans with special patient needs such as no transportation for clinic appointments.
o Provides information to patients on travel resources to ensure that veterans are able to make it to necessary appointments.
o Collaborates with optometry, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, & the Villages to schedule veterans as close to home as possible after surgery is complete, thus promoting veteran satisfaction.
o Sets up & assists with clinic procedures.
o Ensures sterile technique, privacy & timeout is completed.
o Participate in environmental, privacy & safety rounds.
o Performs all other duties as assigned.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
