Summary
Quality assurance analysts work with business analysts and developers to define and execute test cases and test plans of institutional securities trading systems. This includes QA for new releases and hardware upgrades, and liaising with other members of the support/development teams in resolving issues and testing functionality according to specifications and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality assurance analysts are integral members of the product development and delivery team. They work with the development and business analysts to ensure test cases and plans are comprehensive and complete, and issues tracked and reported. The ideal candidate should be able to take an analytical approach to testing - understand business and its processes (front-to-back) and the testing required to support system changes and implementation of any new functionality.
Specific Responsibilities
Candidate should be self-sufficient and be able to configure and manage the QA environment including getting, compiling and deploying code in the QA environment
Be involved in various testing phases including system, unit, and regression testing in Linux and Windows environments
Be able to write/execute automated test scripts and conduct manual testing
Execute test scripts & be able to analyze test results
Document, track, and communicate test plans, test results, analysis, and unresolved issues
Establish benchmarks for program response times
Review and question functional specifications for the purpose of deriving test criteria
Ability to analyze required testing efforts and provide testing estimates
Conduct compatibility tests with other software programs, hardware, multiple operating systems, and network environments
Install, maintain, and use testing software programs
Qualifications
Extensive experience with financial markets and trading processes
Knowledge of task/bug tracking tools (e.g. JIRA)
Knowledge of FIX testing tools preferred
Knowledge of automated testing tools
Ability to understand code and be able to script (JavaScript, Python, PERL, etc.)
Understanding of Front Office Trading including algorithms and analytics
Strong problem-solving skills
A high level of integrity and ethics
Minimum 5 years' experience
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree preferably in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or Finance
QA experience with front office trading system components (order management systems, FIX engines, etc.)
Other Skills and Abilities
Work effectively in a fast paced and demanding environment
Be a self-starter who is able to quickly anticipate needs and issues and manage themEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
