Payroll Technician

This is a full-time position located in Fiscal Service of the West Texas VA Health Care System, Big Spring, Texas.
Incumbent is the Payroll Technician for the WTVAHCS.
Incumbent maintains records and prepares daily, monthly and annual payroll reports.
Incumbent reviews completed work to ensure work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines are met.
Incumbent reviews personnel documents for proper application of pay regulations.
Incumbent reviews authorization documents and codes the appropriate data for input.
Incumbent adjust leave balances due to incorrect coding of time and attendance.
Incumbent is responsible for the review and release of all facility time cards in a timely manner.
Maintains manual control of continuation of pay status and other records as required.
Incumbent must have knowledge of an extensive set of rules, regulations, and procedures governing pay for employees involving a broad range of pay plans to include full-time, intermittent, and temporary General Schedule, Federal Wage System, and various plans under Title 38 with differing entitlements to pay, deductions, and benefits.
Also requires knowledge of an extensive set of time and leave rules and regulations covering a wide variety of pay plans with leave earnings and usage in days, hours, and part-time hours.
Other duties as assigned.

Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:
00am to 4:
30pm.
However position may require work beyond this schedule.

Work is principally sedentary, however some slight physical effort maybe necessary.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
