Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting. The Staff Accountant will understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and perform a wide variety of accounting functions as they relate to the over-all business of the company. This position demonstrates professionalism and leadership to the accounting and administrative staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION (Position Summary)
This position is full time and works in tandem with advertising sales reps to promote the Surfline suite of products to clients while ensuring all of Surfline's products & departments are utilized most efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Full ownership and accountability for all AP/AR functions including:
o Handling cash/credit card/PayPal transactions
o Weekly check runs
o Invoicing/collections
o Setting up new vendors/customers
o Working w/ sales team to ensure correct monthly revenue amounts
o Analysis and preparation of balance sheet, profit & loss, adjusting journal entries, fixed assets, and general ledger activity
o Bank Reconciliations/Month-end closing procedures
o Assist in HR/Office Admin functions
o Resolve Billing issues
o Special projects and tasks as needed
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, with 2-4 years' experience in accounting field
o Working knowledge of GAAP with the ability to review financial reporting
o Proficient with computer based accounting systems, experience with Quickbooks preferred
o Essential function of the job: requires teamwork and developing strong relationships with co-workers
o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
o Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
o Strong MS Office knowledge and experience; specifically Excel.
o Multi-tasking and organizational skills
o Independent Self-StarterEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
