Detailed Job Description
Infection Control Practitioner reports directly to the DCQI. This position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the hospital-wide Infection Control Program and gives oversight to the Medical Waste Management Program and the Environment.
The ICP Investigates any sudden rise in Nosocomial infection trends, performs statistical analysis of infection control activity, collaborates with the Employee Health Nurse to develop employee health programs related to infectious disease and works collaboratively with the Bio-terrorism Response Coordinator.
The Infection Control Practitioner is the hospital resource person for infectious disease policy, procedure, education and training. The ICP also acts as the facility liaison with licensing and accrediting bodies as it relates to infectious disease, and is responsible for appropriate reporting and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
o Current licensed to practice as an R.N. in the State of California and minimum of two years of acute care facility experience or a Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field and a minimum of two years recent experience in an acute care facility.
o Completed the Center for Disease Control course for IC practitioners or complete the Center for Disease Control course within six months of hire or is APIC certified in Infection Control or will obtain certification within three years
o CPR
o Basic Computer Skills
