THE POSITION The Controller will be responsible for preparing financial reports and directing financial and accounting activities of the organization. Following is a list of duties representative of the types of activities that will be assigned.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. In addition to a base salary we offer Health Insurance and Dental Coverage as well as paid vacation and holiday pay. A company phone and computer will be provided for business use
POSITION SUMMARY Prepares financial reports and directs financial and accounting activities of the organization by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate accounting strategies, accounting software selections, objectives, and policies for company
Recommends modifications to existing corporate accounting programs
Directs accounting and administrative personnel in all issues related to accounting and finance
Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations for each business unit
Generates monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow analysis
Generates and directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification
Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities
Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities
Works with outside accounting firm to determine depreciation rates to apply to capital assets and other accounting issues
Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
Performs reconciliation of Company accounts
Prepares reports required by organizations and regulatory agencies
Establishes and supports relationships with officials at banks and other financial institutions
Ensures all revenue, expense, leases, and contracts are allocated properly
Completes financial transactions for related companies including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Account Reconciliation and reviews and approves Payroll for all companies
Prepares or reviews all bank deposits and deposits all checks in the applicable bank
Defines, documents and implements signature authority process and policy for signing checks
Develops business relationships with Company's banks and meets with officials alone or with President as required
Gathers and prepares quarterly and annual tax reporting as required
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Four year college or university program degree in accounting; and seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV Software a plus and will be required if hired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Public Accountant License preferred. Valid Illinois Driver's License

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
