The Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP) for the Michael E.
DeBakey VA Medical Center, Medical Care Line, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC):
Provides care services to veterans in the Community Based Outpatient Clinic setting at the Michael E.
DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC).
The ANP establish medical diagnosis and determine a plan of care for short term health problems, chronic stable health problems and/or exacerbation of chronic health problems.
The ANP duties include the following but are not limited to:
Ability to perform initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients with chronic and multiple medical problems; make assessments and use appropriate diagnostic evaluations; and implement timely and appropriate treatment.
Must be competent to independently perform ophthalmoscopic exams, ENT evaluation, breast examination, pelvic examination & pap smear including wet mount, rectal examination & prostate examinations.
Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients.
Screens outpatients to determine the need for further care.
Carried out health promotion, disease prevention, cancer screening, and chronic disease prevention activities per MEDVAMC policy.
Initiates and expedites requests for consultations and scheduling special test and studies.
Responsible for entering the appropriate documentation of initial visit, follow-up visits, procedures performed, problem lists, procedure lists, and making interim summaries in Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) within the allowed time frame and following the appropriate format.
Must be fluent with electronic documentation of all aspects of medical/family practice care.
Provides education and conseling of patients in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
Responsible for ensuring that all patients have been seen, associated documentation has been completed, and all pertinent patient follow-up has been finished (orders written, consults submitted, labs reviewed, etc.
) before the end of each work day.
Communicate with patients, families, care givers, and other disciplines to identify, analyze, and resolve problems affecting patient care.
Initiate and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation activity or any emergency life threatening situations involving patients in the CBOC.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:
00am - 4:
30pm, some extended hours and/or weekends may be required.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
