SR. Mechanical Engineer
Location : Spring Lake, MI
Job Description :
Permanent position for a Mechanical Engineer for manufacturing and machining in a close tolerance, job shop machining environment.
Machining of steel and aluminum (metal cutting, print reading, GD&T, machine selection, CNC programming, fixture design).
Machining Processes (CNC/manual - milling, lathe, grinding, wire EDM, drilling, deburring).
Tooling (selection, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, coatings).
Manufacturing Systems (prototype processing, machine maintenance and repair, equipment review and selection).
Working in an ISO 9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing environment.
Create and implement manufacturing processes to produce quality parts from engineering drawings.
Collaborate with Product Engineering to continuously improve design for manufacturing ideals.
Design tooling, fixtures, equipment, and processes to support manufacturing efforts which include machining, brazing, grinding, finishing, and assembly of manual and power assisted crimping tools.
Design, execute, and document detailed process maps to improve work center flow, output, and quality.
Interact with Quality Assurance, Sales, and Product Engineering to support production activities and disposition of parts.
Job Requirements :
BS - Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years hands on machine shop experience in set up, programming, operation and repair of manual and CNC machinery (milling, grinding, drilling, lathes), tooling and fixture design, brazing and finishing, and manufacturing process improvement for design of crimping tools.
Experience with machining of steel and aluminum.
Experience with machining processes and tooling.
