Security Officer (Assistant Chief, Police)
Incumbent ensures compliance with all policies and procedures pertaining to facility security and law enforcement.
Enforce Federal, State, County, and City criminal codes and Veterans Affairs rules and regulations (i.
e.
protection of civil rights, protection of physical and personal property, etc.
) Manages and supervises the daily operation of the police force in protecting all patients, visitors, employees, contractors, etc.
and the VA property.
Incumbent assists in planning and implementing police and security operations to ensure 24-hour law enforcement services.
Conducts physical security surveys and monitors the physical security program.
Incumbent provides technical and administrative direction and supervision of police functions and activities in a Medical setting.
Manages Police Officer Teams; plans daily duty investigation schedules, and monthly roster, etc.
Incumbent provides oversight of all aspects of the Veterans Affairs' program.
Assures firearms training to all police officers.
Monitors performance of personnel including contracted Security Guards.
Incumbent performs preliminary and follow-up investigations on a full spectrum of offenses.
Reviews and approves all VA Police offense and accident reports.
Incumbent conducts operations with regard to overt/covert surveillance requirements for case development.
