Utility Mechanic - hvac, boiler, refrig - Work in Antarctica Now!

PAE is a leader in providing worldwide solutions for base operations, logistics, construction, airfield operations, and personnel placement. PAE is currently seeking a Utility Mechanic to support an exciting mission in support of the National Science Foundation's Antarctic Operations.

The Utility Mechanic:
Performs major overhauls to include dismantling, replacing parts and making repairs to all facilities-related equipment including heating, ventilating, cooling, refrigeration, OH doors, hoists, compressors, hydronic systems, pumps, shop tools and a wide variety of other types of equipment and their component parts including some non-facility capital assets such as exercise, medical and lab equipment. Performs preventive maintenance in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance Program. Diagnoses and repairs failures as they occur in support components including kitchen equipment. Assists Supply Chain Management personnel in determining re-supply of inventory. Acts as first responder to trouble calls on facilities and utilities systems. Performs plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs to support systems and structures as necessary. Submits reports as required by supervisor, including the quality assurance self-inspections. Operates tracked vehicles and other equipment for station maintenance, cargo handling and snow melting. May be required to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions. Works outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions as required. Maintains workplace program and ensures safety is the highest priority in the work place. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications: High school graduate or GED is required. HVAC-R license is preferred. Minimum 4 years experience required in a wide variety of facility maintenance. Experience in an industrial or commercial environment is preferred. Ability to read design drawings and diagrams is preferred. Previous experience with remote Polar Logistics operations is preferred. Must be willing and able to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods. May be required to work outside on various jobsites in extreme cold weather conditions. Must be able to lift the safety regulation maximum. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must successfully complete physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. May be required to successfully complete a psychological examination as required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica. US citizenship is required.
