Oversees the daily operation of one or more departments.
Directs staff in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and programs.
Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results including costs, methods and staffing.
Adheres to both company policy and governmental regulations concerning department and direct employee activities.
Manages departmental structure, workforce planning, career development, training, planning and budgeting.
Responsible for department budget.
Essential Job Functions:
o Oversee and work with teams to develop outstanding creative concepts (copywriters, art directors, account service, and strategists).
o Creates and directs a wide range of ideas/designs to ensure the creative execution supports the brand strategy.
o Steward of the client's look, tone and feel.
o May oversee the creation of the brand style and brand voice guide.
o Oversees the quality of the creative materials from client presentation through final production.
o Manages and grow both the creative/marketing services teams considering training, advancement, and inspiration.
o Upholds agency's creative standards while continually seeking new resources in the areas of talent, ideas, and services.
o Collaborates with account and insight teams on creative briefs and marketing strategies.
o Defines and evolves the creative process, and ensures successful process are developed and followed.
Optimizes the process to meet client needs.
o Consistently interacts with clients throughout all phases of design, branding, strategizing, etc.
Presents to clients and/or internal groups as needed.
o Actively pursues and secures opportunities for business development (e.
g.
, organic growth).
o May suggest specs for handoff.
o May manage and approve (or delegate) freelance resources as needed, within established freelance budgets.
Knowledge & Skills o Minimum of seven years' experience in a related field.
Previous leadership experience required.
o Able to guide campaigns with Copywriters, provide feedback and brainstorm ideas.
o Good sense of aesthetic when selecting stock photography and illustrated art.
o Hands-on understanding of multipage, multi-product materials, promotional print materials, catalog, direct mail and the fundamental principles of digital marketing.
o Knowledge of direct marketing tactics (e.
g.
, postal regulations, personalization, direct mail formats, cost-effective/ saving ideas etc.
).
o Excellent photo art direction skills.
o Able to lead a team of people to produce copy and develop breakthrough ideas that are on target and follow clients' strategy.
o Able to communicate effectively, upwards and downwards within the organizational structure.
o Able to solve complex problem and issues.
o Able to recognize and manage new business opportunities.
