Turolla, member of the Danfoss group, leading world-level manufacturer of hydraulic gear pumps and motors, is looking for a Plant Operations manager for its US facility based in Ames, Ia.
Manager, Plant Operations
The Plant Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives; will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Key
Responsibilities:
Responsible for day-to-day and long term oversight of all manufacturing activities with the priority of safety, quality, on-time delivery, efficiency/productivity standards & cost.
Directly leads Turolla Operations in Ames and Freeport, Manufacturing Engineering and in a matrix organization Quality, and Strategic Purchasing.
Ensure the staff is aligned and working together, by setting the vision and direction for operation objectives. Has solid understanding of the broad business. Evaluates situations and makes decisions that are intended to have a positive impact on work performance and financial performance of the total business.
Is accountable for defining resources needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to accomplish objectives for area of responsibility.
Promote the use of Lean methodology in driving plant quality improvements
Utilize, lead, and support Lean manufacturing action workouts to reduce cycle times and inventory levels
Develop the plant budget and control spending to budget levels
Develop and execute an effective communication plan for the facility
Provides visionary leadership and encourages creativity. Demonstrates personal flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility, and assignments.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering or related field. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
7
years of operations/project management/product management experience including technical, administrative, financial and contractual.
Desired characteristics:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports
A very motivated professional that drives and enforce motivation among the team members
Strong leadership skills, change agent
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Ability to plan and organize work projects is desired and previous experience & examples of managing projects are beneficial. Attention to detail and accuracy is important as well as the ability to be flexible under pressure.
Understands the importance of following pre-established guidelines and standard operating procedures and how these guidelines impact the performance of the manufacturing process.
Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills & listening skills important to help individuals work as a team, resolve conflict, and support our customer
Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines to bring assignments to a successful completion
Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensures that they are met
Ability to generate new and unique ideas

Availability to travel extensively

Reporting and organization:
The Plant Operations Manager will lead the Turolla US plant leadership members, will report to the Turolla VP and will be member of the Turolla Global Leadership Team.

Location:
USA, Ames, IAEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
