GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
As an IT professional, the Enterprise Systems DB/SQL/Linux Administrator will ensure high performance and data integrity of company's databases through monitoring, tuning, security administration, backups and recovery. Key experiences will include solid experience with Oracle and SQL databases and Linux operating system with deep server and storage knowledge. Lead, manage and maintain the rollout of database and OS technologies. The Administrator is expected to interface and collaborate with peers in the Enterprise Systems and Computer Operations teams to develop and achieve system administrative synergies.
Key Responsibilities
o Monitor and optimize Linux operating systems and storage for SQL and Oracle ERP databases.
o Install security patches on monthly basis Linux servers for Oracle ERP and other mission critical systems to comply with security audits.
o Develop tools to automate administrative tasks and offer efficient and scalable solutions to meet the demands of administering large number of servers in an enterprise environment.
o Auditing and reporting of compliance with disaster recovery regulatory requirements for both internal and external audits.
o Monitor database performance and apply proper tuning techniques to ensure optimal performance.
o Develop complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries and reports using Oracle report writers such as Discoverer.
o Stay abreast of database release versions and perform database software upgrades as required.
o Develop, implement and maintain database security methods to guarantee the data and database structures against improper access.
o Develop, implement and maintain back-up procedures and programs to ensure databases can be restored in event of disaster.
o Assist application developers to ensure programming techniques result in optimum performance and minimal redundant stored data.
o Administer database vendor contracts to ensure prompt resolution of problems and appropriate service levels. Monitor company database license and ensure that no violations occur. Seek ways to minimize licensing costs
o Provide project management for various database projects involving various groups and disciplines.
o Recover databases from back-ups in the event of a disaster using procedures appropriate for the situation.
o Perform initial database set-up and creation.
o Perform data exports and imports using database tools.
o Provide capacity management by monitoring database growth and extending database structures as necessary.
o Perform data structure altering, such as adding and dropping columns, tables, indexes and constraints while ensuring data integrity.
o Coordinate with database vendor in resolving problems.
o Provide expert technical assistance and training to other IT administrators.
o Estimate time and budget needed to complete projects.
o Develop and maintain documentation of database procedures and problem resolution

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o University degree in Computer Science or related field with five or more years of database administration experience and solid understanding of UNIX/Linux administration.
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in an ERP infrastructure support role
o Superior demonstrated knowledge of proper administration techniques for Oracle database technology.
o Superior Structured Query Language (SQL) knowledge and programming ability.
o Extensive hands-on technical knowledge of servers (including blade technology) and Storage Area Networks.
o Spanish speaking would be an assetEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
