Job Description / Information Drive/participate in developing and enhancing Division intellectual property portfolio. Support the Division by working with the business units to develop and maintain intellectual property portfolio (including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, etc.) in areas of interest. Perform appropriate searches to verify patentability, validity and right to use. Provide organizational intellectual property training.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Develop patent portfolios for client groups in key areas of interest. 2. Meet with Management, Engineers and Marketing personnel in client groups to get involved strategically and understand how IP can support their goals and objectives; 3. Develop, implement and maintain IP Strategy for Business Units, key products and areas of interest. 4. Focus on initiative, driving innovation, and customer service 5. Support Finance and Legal with agreements related to your support areas in order to help ensure IP interests are protected and proper payment of royalties are made over time. 6. Review invention disclosures and guide patenting decisions; 7. Liaise with outside counsel in preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications; 8. Investigate development status, plans to commercialize inventions, novelty, etc. to support decisions to file corresponding international patents. 9. Analyze and work with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to respond to Office Actions; 10. Perform patentability, right to use, and state of art patent searches; 11. Monitor IP development within the industry by conducting IP landscape analyses.
Minimum
Qualifications Education:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Bio-medical Engineering or similar scientific discipline with demonstrated experience in commercial intellectual property.

Experience:
Will also consider licensed Patent Agent with engineering background. 5
year's experience in development and research in the medical device industry or other appropriate, related industry; Demonstrated expertise in the design, clinical use and history of medical devices; Demonstrated expertise in the function, clinical issues and performance requirements of medical devices; Prefer applied understanding of USPTO patent prosecution processes; Demonstrated ability to perform IP searches; Technical writing and editing skills; Proficient with technical drawing tools such as Visio; Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
