Industrial Technology Machining Instructor

This is a full-time, tenure-track, faculty position on a 175-day contract scheduled to begin fall quarter (September) 2015.
Wenatchee Valley College is looking for a dedicated, experienced industrial technology machining instructor that can effectively teach machining technologies, which includes a one year certificate and a two year ATS degree. Included are the aspects of theory and practice of instruction on lathe & milling manual machines and CNC set-up and operation. Curriculum also includes using CAD/CAM software, measurement tolerances, modern manufacturing production techniques, reading technical drawings and programming processes related to manufacturing. This position will lead WVC's new machining technologies program and requires a strong commitment to remain current with emerging technology and work closely with industry professionals and employers on an on-going basis.
The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical skills and professional experience that demonstrates the ability to: impart excitement and enthusiasm into the teaching of machining: reflect an approach to machining as an integrated part of WVC's Industrial Technology Program; adapt to a variety of teaching situations including a wide range of student abilities and preparedness; and successfully interact with peer faculty, staff and college administration.

GENERAL
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to teach students precision machining technologies. The instructor will be responsible for instruction as well as maintaining curriculum and assessment of student outcomes.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (responsibilities include but not limited to):
o Teach core machining technology courses.
o Provide learning activities and appropriate evaluation of student progress toward attaining the learning outcomes and abilities set forth in established course outlines.
o Guide the launch and lead the professional and technical machining technology program.
o Coordinate with the industrial technology program coordinator the use and maintenance of the machining shop, classroom, CNC machine/s and related equipment.
o Establish guidelines and manage the safety and conduct of students as appropriate for the classroom and machine shop.
o Maintain appropriate student records, documentation, and program reports and submit them in a timely manner as required.
o Establish and maintain communications with industry professionals and employers.
o Keep current with technology and industry trends in machining and industrial technology through workshops and short courses.
o Collaborate with industrial technology faculty to continue to refine the machining technology program to serve students interested in the program and related fields.
o Engage in community activities that will recruit students to Wenatchee Valley College that are interested in pursuing careers in machining and manufacturing related fields.
o Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
o Maintain office hours, participate in committees, update and design appropriate curriculum for subject areas.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
o High school diploma or GED or greater.
o Five years recent professional experience in machining, with extensive experience in manual and CNC machining.
o Have or must obtain a valid vocational-technical certificate.
o One year of experience teaching or supervising.
DESIRABLE
Qualifications:
o Machining journey-level certificate.
o Experience using Mastercam and/or Solidworks.
o Degree or course work in vocational education or adult vocational education.
o Commitment to continuous updating of skills and training.
o Computer skills and experience with using the Internet.
o Excellent oral and written communications skills.
o Strong interpersonal relations skills and the ability to work as a team member.
o Community involvement with industry related professional organizations, professional and campus activities.
o Ability to work collaboratively in diverse cultural settings.
