Position Duties:
1. Manager materials evaluation laboratory and staff of four.
2. Manage and lead research and development activities to evaluate current and future manufacturing processes and materials and/or performance improvement projects for optimization.
3. Provide project management and financial analysis for new processes and capital investments.
4. Lead the development and maintenance of internal and external technical data packages to include testing and measurement methodologies.
5. Aggressively lead the efforts to seek new technologies for automating processes to include process inspections.
6. Utilize Pro-Cast simulation software to model and simulate DISA sand casting process and model and simulate investment casting processes.
7. Serve as subject matter expert in green sand casting, investment casting, chemically bonded sand casting, metal forming technologies and elastomeric molding.
8. Analyze outputs and make adjustment to boundry conditions.
9. Set up, maintain and use Envision 3D printer to create models.
10. Utilize 3D SolidWorks to design and model in 3D, use FEA tools in SolidWorks and import and export data in any format.
11. Perform and present special projects as assigned by Department Director
Requirements:
1. Master of Science in Mechanical, Materials or Industrial Engineering and five years of R & D experience in a manufacturing or industrial company laboratory.
Special Requirements:
1. Demonstrated ability to mentor, train and supervisor technical staff.
2. Ability to communicate technical documentation and instructions clearly both written and oral.
3. Proficient in 3D SolidWorks, Pro-Cast Simulation Software and set-up, maintenance and use of Envision 3D Tech printer.
4. Demonstrated ability to use SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) to include sample preparation and image interpretation.
5. Ability to operate and interpret metallurgical laboratory testing equipment to include sample preparation, mounting, polishing, etching, use of metallographic microscope, micro and macro hardness testing.
6. Strong Physical Metallurgy and Process Metallurgy skill set.
7. Understanding of mechanical pipe joining technologies and corrosion fatigue and overload.
