Job Description:
This position will supervise continual economic and efficient production in all areas of the E-3 System (stock prep, paper machine, coater, finishing). Provide safety, quality, technical, and operational support for E-3 paper machine systems. In addition, lead and guide the development of crews.
ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Maintain safe operation for employees through proactive coaching/counseling to insure safe practices and policies are followed
Ensure quality standards for finished product are met
Work effectively with different groups on the mill site including maintenance, shipping, quality, technical and others
Improve productivity and efficiency by positively interacting with crew members and management to perform basic troubleshooting, lead problem resolution and implement corrective actions
Educate and administer the labor agreement, policies, and work rules with the crews
Effectively use and support mill systems such as work notification processes, shift log books and computerized data management systems such as PI
Work with hourly and management employees to improve training materials/process
Promote Manufacturing Excellence processes and procedures by focusing on operator engagement, coaching, and mentoring in order to fully utilize all ME processes as designed
Possess ambulatory capabilities to move around the mill, climb ladders, and catwalks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science or a related field and 3-7 years of experience; or 10 or more years of hands on experience working in a paper mill environment
Good communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills
Strong aptitude for mechanical, chemical processes, and computerized systems
Ability to make difficult decisions
Ability to work 12 hour shifts (days and nights)
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
Abiliy to champion change and influence others at all levels of the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science preferred.
