_ABOUT THE POSITION_
We are currently seeking a dynamic Peer Specialist to join our team at our office in Rocky Hill Connecticut. The Peer/Family Specialist shall provide family and adult consumer support; help individuals create a support network; do outreach; promote recovery and resilience by knowing how to share their own story and by being a role model helping to promote hope, skill development, strength, stability and safety; help set vocational and social goals; share coping skills and tips for families on how to manage difficult behaviors, especially skills in combating negative self-talk; promoting active participation in the treatment process; providing training on negotiating the system and other topics of interest to families and adult consumers; teach self-advocacy skills; help support diversion from emergency rooms; organize natural supports for families and adult consumers in crisis, work with ICM clients and families; help ease transitions upon return home after hospitalization; provide training to providers on family and adult consumer perspectives; conduct focus groups and serve on geographical teams; and outreach to the community at large and family organizations.
_Position
Responsibilities:_
Telephone and/or face to face support to members and families from someone who's been there to hear their issues and offer support and information. Members may need help navigating the system, filling out applications (i.e. Voluntary Services, SSI, and System of Care), explaining member rights, dealing with feelings of shame, guilt and overwhelming stress, and locating non -traditional supports, and learning about self-advocacy skills.
Participate in a Geo-Team approach to care management to enhance member treatment by identifying resources, access to care, identifying barriers to care and gaps in service.
Collaborate with the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Social Services as necessary to support members.
Build, develop and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with providers and adult consumer and family organizations by establishing a local presence via telephone interactions and by attending meetings.
Outreach to, and work with family and adult consumer advocacy groups across the state
Provide technical assistance to adult consumer and family groups, as well as Community Collaborative.
_Position Requirements:_
Relevant Work
Experience: Family member or adult consumer or former family member or adult consumer. Five years' experience in grassroots advocacy or community organizing required. Some combination of the following experiences required. Experience in supervising and training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Good computer Skills
Good Communicational and organizational skills
Writing training curriculum

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
