Permanent Full-Time The Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fuel Cycle Technologies, Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) will provide leadership and expertise in supporting the management of national programs that utilizes industry, universities, and national laboratory assets to develop and demonstrate the fuel cycle technologies needed to permit eventual deployment of alternatives to the current used fuel management strategy, to include used nuclear fuel recycling and closing of the nuclear fuel cycle. May be required to routinely travel to DOE Headquarters in Washington, DC. The Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fuel Cycle Technologies supports the Deputy Assistant Secretary in providing leadership and expertise to support sustainable domestic use of nuclear energy through development of technologies to demonstrate options for short and long-term used nuclear fuel (UNF)/high level waste (HLW) management that minimizes nuclear waste, reduce proliferation risk, extended reactor fuel resources and enhance materials protection, control and accountancy. The incumbent directs the planning, management and budget to research, development and demonstrated options for short and long term UNF/HLW management in the United States. Represents NE in technical and policy matters on advanced technologies development for commercial nuclear reactor and nuclear fuel cycle technologies on committees, panels, working groups and task forces, at national and international seminars, and at meetings with contractor institutions, organizations and associations. The ADAS oversees the management of project controls systems and works to ensure that the Department is employing best practices to control work scope, cost, and schedule and to ensure cost-effective utilization of scientific and engineering resources. The incumbent manages NE liaison with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other agencies to facilitate effective and efficient development of information on fuel cycle facility design, technology, safety, security and other relevant issues. Works closely with the NRC, industry, and other agencies in addressing the regulatory, technical and institutional issues to enable the design, construction and operation of fuel cycle facilities in the United State. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS VACANCY:
This is a career position in the SES. Unless the selectee is already a member of the SES with career status or has successfully completed an SES Candidate Development Program, certified by OPM, his/her Executive Core Qualifications must be approved by OPM before appointment can be effected.
PUBLIC FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORT (OGE 278). Selected candidate must file this report prior to entry on duty in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
DRUG TESTING POSITION. You will be subject to pre-employment/pre-appointment testing for illegal drug use under the U.S. Department of Energy Employee Drug Plan. PROBATIONARY PERIOD. An individual's initial SES career appointment becomes final only after the individual successfully completes a 1-year probationary period.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs):

MTQ 1 - Executive-level experience managing highly complex nuclear energy research and development programs and a demonstrated ability to resolve technical and administrative problems related to nuclear energy initiatives.
MTQ 2 - Authoritative knowledge of current domestic and international nuclear energy research; project management; safety and environmental laws, regulations, and policies applicable to nuclear facilities and systems.
MTQ 3 - Demonstrated ability to maintain liaison, collaboration and cooperation with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and nuclear industry in addressing regulatory, technical, and institutional issues in order to enable the construction and operation of advanced reactors and fuel processing and fabrication facilities in the United States.
MTQ 4 - Extensive experience communicating verbally and in writing with Congressional, government, industry, and foreign leaders, usually to resolve a variety of controversial policy issues.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
